'Sea robber' arrested in Manila


The alleged leader of a robbery group operating in the Manila Bay was arrested by joint members of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Philippine National Police on Monday night, Sept. 27.

According to PCG report, Mark Montilla was arrested in Baseco Compound in Port Area, Manila around 7:30 p.m. through an arrest warrant issued by a Manila court. He was tagged as the leader of Montilla Criminal Group,

He was allegedly the mastermind behind what authorities said were theft and sea robbery against anchored vessels at the Manila Bay Anchorage Area.

Montilla disclosed during his arrest that various stolen items, including welding machines and ropes, are being kept in possession of his other cohorts only identified as Randy and Ruel.

The PCG and the local police are currently conducting follow-up operations to arrest the other members of the group.
