Sara Duterte extends condolences to artist Bree Jonson’s family

DAVAO CITY – Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio extends her deepest condolences to the late artist Bree Jonson family, whose body was found dead on September 18 in a La Union hostel.

“On behalf of the City Government of Davao, we would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family members . We are with you in your pain during this time,” Mayor Sara said during her radio program over Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR 87.5) on Monday afternoon.

Mayor Sara said that any resident of the city can avail of the funeral assistance from the Lingap Para sa Mahirap. She added that they will provide assistance through requisition.

The body of the artist arrived in Davao City on Sunday, September 26.

Based on the initial report of her autopsy examination, Jonson died of asphyxia.

The family, however, denied these claims, saying Jonson sustained several bruises and wounds, which may indicate that there was a struggle between her and her boyfriend, Julian Ongpin.

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has started a parallel investigation on Jonson’s death.

President Rodrigo R. Duterte earlier ordered authorities to look into the death of the said artist.
