Transportation officials have inaugurated the newly developed airport in Zamboanga City on Tuesday, Sept. 28.
Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Art Tugade said the Zamboanga City Airport will further improve the commerce and tourism in the western part of Mindanao.
Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Director General Jim Sydiongco said one of the improvements is the Zamboanga Airport Rehabilitation of the Existing Passenger Terminal Building (PTB).
The project covers the expansion of the PTB at its right side and the rehabilitation of several areas at the existing terminal building. With these improvements, Zamboanga Airport’s PTB has been provided with additional 691.2 square meters space.
The PTB can now also cater to more passengers. From a 500-passenger capacity, now, it can accommodate a total of 750 passengers at the arrival and pre-departure area.
