A drug personality was killed in an alleged shootout with police in Barangay Santol, Balagtas, Bulacan before dawn Tuesday, Sept. 28.

Col. Lawrence B. Cajipe, Bulacan police director, identified the slain drug suspect as Joselito Hernandez Mag-isa alias Tammy.

Based on the police report, a buy-bust operation was launched against the suspect by members of the Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) of Balagtas Municipal Police Station at about 1:20 a.m. on Tuesday in Barangay Santol.

After the drug transaction, the suspect sensed that the poseur-buyer was a policeman as he saw the approaching operatives.

Instead of submitting himself to the arresting cops, he ran inside his house. A brief chase ensued up to the rooftop where he drew a gun and fired shots at the police operatives.

The lawmen retaliated, killing the suspect.

Crime scene investigators recovered from the site a .45-caliber pistol loaded with seven live bullets, a magazine with seven bullets, six sachets of suspects shabu, a sling bag, a pouch, a weighing scale, a pair of scissors, and the buy-bust money.

Meanwhile, 18 other drug personalities were also arrested during simultaneous operations of the Bulacan Police.

One of the suspects, Jason Elardo of Loma De Gato, Marilao, was nabbed in a buy-bust operation conducted by Marilao police.

Recovered from him were four sachets of suspected shabu, an improvised .22-caliber firearm, and the buy-bust money.
