New political party to back Sara’s presidential bid

DAVAO CITY – A new political party will hold a national directorate convention in favor of City Mayor Sara Duterte’s potential presidential bid in May 2022 if she decides to run.

The national directorate is scheduled for September 28 Tuesday but the party is yet to finalize the venue for the convention.

The political party, identified as the Partido Pilipino sa Pagbabago (PPP), expressed its willingness to merge with other national and local parties to support Mayor Sara’s candidacy.

PPP, a grassroot–oriented effort, has adopted the phrase “Una sa Lahat ang Pilipino” to campaign for the agenda of anything and everything for pro-Filipino, owing to the need to resuscitate a new political culture free of turncoats, oligarchy, and traditional politics.

The political party said that its members were preparing to back the campaign of Mayor Sara if she changes her mind and throws her hat in as a presidential contender.

“We are ready to support Mayor Sara's presidential candidacy (this October) if she changed her mind and decided to run,” the PPP said.

The president's daughter, who is the frontrunner in various pre-election surveys as the preferred candidate, earlier said she will seek reelection in Davao City.

Many groups here and abroad, however, are appealing to her to run in the 2022 Elections for the highest position in the land.

The PPP is awaiting certification from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) as a political party.
