A Catholic bishop urged prelates to seek help if they are experiencing mental health problems.

Diocese of Novaliches Bishop Roberto Gaa said that there are some instances where it is not enough to just pray.

“Importante na marunong kang pangalagaan ang sarili mo kasi tao pa rin tayo (It’s important that you know how to take care of yourself because we’re still human),” Gaa said in an interview over Church-run Radyo Veritas.

We have traumas that we have gone through before and other problems that cannot be fixed through prayers alone),” he added.

Gaa expressed hope that some experts would provide counselling services to prelates.

I hope there will be available experts to initiate awareness that we also need to take care of ourselves),” he said.

It’s really necessary—the priests are not supermen … they are still human. It would be good to see if such needs are also addressed).”
