Two Filipinas are running as candidates for city councilor in Italy.
In a report from ABS CBN News, Analiza Bueno and Evelyn Amorin are both aiming to get a council seat to promote the welfare of their fellow Filipinos in Italy.
The 53-year old Bueno is running for the city councilor position in Rome.
Bueno, who hails from Batangas, served as an executive employee for almost 20 years in Centro per I’impiego, an agency of the Italian government that administers on labor policies.
“Mas malapit sa puso ko iyong social services tungkol sa mga kababaihan, sa mga bata, Italians na nangangailangan din ng tulong (Social services about women, children, Italians who also need help are much closer to my heart),” Bueno told ABS CBN.
Bueno also worked as a domestic worker.
She was also known as a cultural mediator and migrant consultant among the Filipino community.
Meanwhile, Amorin, who is running for the position of councilor in Milan, is a businesswoman.
Aside from Bueno and Amorin, four other Filipinos are also running for the municipal councilor positions. They are Nicola di Flora and Kevin Kappah Mandawe of Rome and Dimongo Borja and Rosalie Estares of Milan.
The Italian municipal and regional elections will take place on October 3 and 4 this year.
