The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) death toll in the city of Manila remains at 1,554 as no new fatality was recorded on Friday (Sept. 24), Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso announced in his weekly capital report.
"Paalala may impeksiyon pa na kumakalat sa ating komunidad, sa ating siyudad, sa ating bansa kaya patuloy tayong mag-ingat (I want to remind all of you that there's still infection spreading in our community, city and our country. We need to be cautious)," he said
"Ang pangarap ko sa inyo mabuhay tayo na may COVID-19. Kaya natin 'yan. Wag tayo mawawalan ng pag-asa, huwag tayong susuko (I hope that we can live with COVID-19. We can do it. Let's not lose hope and don't give up)," he added.
However, the local government recorded 156 new infections, increasing the total number of current active cases to 1,142.
It also recorded 452 new recoveries, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 80,212.
