WTFu (What the FU) by MR. FU: Geneva Cruz says: 'Sinungaling!'

Geneva Cruz

I used to believe that I could sing. (isa palang malaking ilusyon!) When National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab,  introduced Geneva Cruz, Jeffrey Hidalgo, James Coronel and Tony Lambino as members of the singing group Smokey Mountain years ago, I wanted to be part of it. (or palitan si Geneva, chos!) But since I am not really a singer, (at di naman naghahanap ng 5th member!) I just became a fan. I remember using my allowance to buy their cassette tapes. I would also always include their songs in our high school production numbers. (habang ako maglilip synch kay ate Geneva mo!) But I lost my interest in the group when they had to concentrate on their solo careers. (solid ako sa original!)

When I was already hosting some talk shows, I had the opportunity to interview Geneva and Jeffrey in several events that I covered but I never had the chance to tell them about my love for Smokey Mountain. (parang puro ambush interviews ata kasi yun)

I was supposed to do a project with Jeffrey for a film he was directing. (bilang Direk Jeffrey na rin sya ngayon.) He was getting me to act. I was considering it but due to a conflict of schedule, I didn’t get the part.  (ayaw ko rin kasi, dahil sabi bading daw yung role. Chos!)

Unfortunately, I have never met James and Tony. (baka mamaya check ko!)

Geneva continued her love for performing. But of course, she had to say goodbye to her Smokey Mountain sweet image. She evolved into a sexy and sultry singer. (at di narin nagsusuot ng garbage bag bilang costume!) She left for the U.S. for some time, but decided to come back and continue her career. (baka may humatak sa kanyang kaluluwa!)

For her showbiz comeback, she appeared on Kapamilya Network’s reality show

” Your Face Sounds Familiar.” She is also active now online. Her performances with her cousins Donna, Sunshine and Sheryl went viral. (sing ang mga lola mo!) She is also a favorite of bashers every now and then. Some netizens compare her with her cousins, while others make her bikini photos and videos a big issue. (in fairness naman, sexy ang tita mo!)

On Oct. 1, Curve Entertainment will be releasing her newest single: “Sinungaling” on digital streaming platforms. The song was written by Geneva’s good friend, Junji Arias, of The Voice Season 1.
