5.0-magnitude quake hits Occidental Mindoro


A 5.0-magnitude earthquake jolted Occidental Mindoro early Wednesday, Sept. 22, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.

The earthquake, which occurred at 12:43 a.m., was tectonic in origin and was traced 11 kilometers northwest of Mamburao town.

The quake had a depth of 143 km, with the following registered intensities: Intensity III - Malvar, Batangas; Intensity II- Quezon City

Phivolcs said the quake was also felt under the following Instrumental Intensities: Intensity IV- Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro; Intensity III- Tagaytay City; Intensity II- Muntinlupa City; Batangas City and Calatagan, Batangas,Mauban, Mulanay and Dolores, Quezon; Intensity I-Lopez, Quezon; Carmona, Cavite; Plaridel, Bulacan

The quake was not expected to cause any damage to property. However, aftershocks are likely to happen.
