Mandaue City is first Cebu LGU to jab half of its population


CEBU CITY — The city of Mandaue became the first local government unit (LGU) in Metro Cebu to fully vaccinate 50 percent of its eligible population.

In the September 17 data released by the Visayas Vaccination Operations Center (VVOC), Mandaue has already vaccinated 154,011 individuals (50.09%) with two doses of COVID-19 vaccine.

The city has also vaccinated 173,334 (56.38%) individuals with first dose of the vaccine.

Mandaue has a population of 422,463 people with 307,454 residents or those at least 18 years old eligible to receive the vaccine.

“With the goal of achieving herd immunity the soonest time possible, your Mandaue City government will do everything it can to vaccinate those eligible to be vaccinated,” the city’s Public Information Office said.

Overall, 820,742 individuals in the cities of Mandaue, Cebu, Lapu-Lapu and the province of Cebu have already been fully vaccinated.

Including those 1,025,912 individuals who already received their first dose, there are already 1,846,654 vaccinated people in Metro Cebu.
