Award-winning songwriter, singer and multi-instrumentalist Craig Abaya and world champion turntablist and composer DJ Qbert once again join forces for a new single titled “Q&A.”
This follows their previous collaboration, “Bloom,” in which Abaya composed and performed the spacey blues piece, playing guitars and bass, and Qbert provided other-worldly beats and textures.
“Q&A” sports an aggressive rock feel befitting a police drama. Qbert provides a driving bass-and-drum loop and lighting speed turntablism. Abaya provides melodic guitar attacks, acoustic drum accents, and other textures.
Qbert (born Richard Quitevis) and Abaya (who pronounces it “Uh-bey-uh”) are both sons of Philippine immigrants who grew up in San Francisco’s Mission Districts.
“Q&A” is one of 3 Abaya entries in the 64th Grammy Awards along with his music video titled “Regret” and the song “Will I Walk on Water” co-written with Jo Anne Lorenzana.'
