Bordado joined more than 140 delegates from the navies and coast guards of over 100 nations that participated in the 24th International Seapower Symposium (ISS) at the United States Naval War College (USNWC) from Sept. 14 to 17.

One of the highlights of the top-level meet was Bordado's induction into the Alumni Hall of Fame by the US Naval War College. He is a USNWC alumnus and a member of the Naval Command College in 2012.

"This is in recognition of VADM Bordado's long and selfless service to his maritime nation, dedication to duty, keen sense of personal honor, and a firm commitment to international maritime cooperation," said Commander Benjo Negranza, PN spokesperson, in a statement Sunday, Sept. 19.

According to Negranza, ISS is the world's only forum that brings together the heads of navies and coast guards in a single location.

"ISS provides a forum for dialogue between the delegates to strengthen maritime security by giving opportunities to collaborate, build confidence, and expand navy-to-navy training," he said.

This year's ISS was hosted by the US Navy Chief, Admiral Michael Gilday.
