GMA exec. Lucila dies at 65


GMA Network announced the passing of Roberto Rafael V. Lucila, the company's corporate secretary and compliance officer.

“The Board of Directors, management, and employees of GMA Network, Inc. deeply mourn the passing of Atty. Lucila. We pray for the eternal repose of our beloved Kapuso,” GMA said in a statement.

Lucila, 65, was the co-managing partner/senior partner of the Law Firm of Belo Gozon Elma Parel Asuncion & Lucila. He was also a director in Philippine affiliates of European and American companies.

He also served in the Office of the President of the Philippines as assistant executive secretary for legislation from 1990 to 1992; chairman of the Presidential Staff in 1991; and occupied concurrent positions in the Department of Transportation and Communications.

Lucila has been the head of six different companies and currently is chairman and president for eMerchant Asia, Inc., chairman and president for eMerchant Pay Asia, Inc., chairman and President for Assetlex Development Co., Inc., chairman and President for Lucilex, Inc., and president for Philippine Cockfighting International, Inc.

Moreover, he is on the board of Time Life International Philippines, MeteoGroup Philippines, Inc. and Evonik Industries AG (Philippines), and Member-Regents Board at Bicol University.

Lucila previously occupied the position of chairman at Philippine Retirement Authority and president-office at Express Telecommunication Co., Inc.

He received an undergraduate degree and a graduate degree from the University of the Philippines and a graduate degree from the University of Asia & the Pacific.
