The improvement of the bridge located along the Surigao-Agusan Section of Daang Maharlika in Cabadbaran City is key to "addressing the bottleneck of traffic on the existing bridge."

“We have to ensure that mobility in our national highways is not hindered especially during emergency situations," DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said, noting that its construction is currently in full swing.

Once completed, the additional two-lane bridge will ease traffic in the area and provide faster mobility of people, goods, and services from Surigao to Butuan City or to any point in Mindanao.

Economic activity in the region is also expected to flourish especially in the areas of fishery, agro-forestry, mining, and eco-tourism, Villar said.

Implemented by DPWH Regional Office 13, the project involves slab and sidewalk and bridge approaches with steel railings and solar lights.

"Efforts to remove obstructions are fast-tracked in order to proceed with civil works and prevent further delays," the Secretary further stated.

Meanwhile, the P6.719-billion Cabadbaran-Puting Bato-Lanuza Road project, which involves the opening and concreting of 73 kilometers of road from Junction Daang Maharlika on Surigao-Agusan Road to Junction Surigao-Davao Coastal Road in Lanuza, Surigao del Sur and the construction of two bridges, is now at 36.23 percent accomplishment rate.
