Establishments in two cities in Metro Manila that have been allowed to resume limited operation under the new community restriction guidelines are so far compliant with existing health protocols, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said.
Restaurants, salons, and malls in the cities of San Juan and Mandaluyong were inspected by the MMDA on Thursday, Sept. 16 as the entire Metro Manila was placed under Alert Level 4.
During the inspection, “100% fully vaccinated” stickers were installed at the entrance of establishments whose employees have been fully vaccinated against coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
“We are satisfied with the private establishments’ compliance to the guidelines for the Alert Level system piloted in Metro Manila. Despite the short notice to the mayors, they all delivered,” MMDA Chairman Benhur Abalos said.
The inspection focused on the three Cs – closed space like restaurants; close contact which includes personal care services like salons, and crowded space like churches.
Under Alert Level 4, indoor dine-in services and select personal care services will be allowed to operate only for fully-vaccinated individuals at a limited 10 percent capacity.
Outdoor or alfresco dine-in services in restaurants are also allowed to operate at 30 percent capacity, regardless of customers' vaccination status.
Personal care services limited to barbershops, hair spas, nail spas, and beauty salons are allowed to operate at 30 percent if these services are conducted outdoors, regardless of customers' vaccination status while indoor services are at 10 percent capacity but can only accommodate fully-vaccinated persons.
Abalos also appealed to the public to cooperate and follow the rules and regulations enforced under the alert level 4 and granular lockdown in the region to ensure the success of the pilot implementation of the new restriction system in Metro Manila.
Meanwhile, the MMDA chief said they have already coordinated with all concerned agencies like the Philippine National Police (PNP), for the enforcement of rules on the ground, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for the provision of the food supply in areas under granular lockdowns.
The DSWD will assist the local government units in giving food packs for residents affected by two-week granular lockdowns.
San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora and Mandaluyong City Mayor Menchie Abalos joined the inspection.
