Metro Manila mayors are confident they could implement Alert Level 4, with the pilot start of the new system of pandemic restrictions on Thursday, September 16, 2021.

This, as it was reported that the metropolis has posted a lower reproduction number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infections, while a university expert said that cases may reach up to 40,000 daily by late September or early October.

The word war between Malacanang and the Senate continued on the allegedly anomalous purchases made at the height of the pandemic last year.
