LGUs to intensify mass testing, contact tracing, isolation during two-week granular lockdown

Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez, also the chairman of the Metro Manila Council (MMC), said the two-week Alert level 4 and granular lockdowns will be devoted to mass testing, contact tracing, and isolation.

Olivarez said that granular lockdowns will cover houses, buildings, streets or subdivisions.

"Katulad po sa isang floor ng isang condominium... basta magkaroon lang po ng isa pong case doon, ‘yong mismong isang floor na ‘yon ay puwede na po nating i-lock down po ‘yan," (Like in one floor of a condominium, if there is already one case of COVID-19 there, we can already order a lockdown on that floor) Olivarez said.

He added that the lockdowns can also be implemented in sitios or streets if there are already two cases of COVID-19.

The mayor said residents covered by the restriction will automatically undergo swab tests for COVID-19.

Food packs will be distributed in areas under granular lockdowns.

"Wala pong financial po ‘yan, food pack po ang itutulong ng ating gobyerno," (There will be no financial assistance. Our government will help by sending food packs) Olivarez said.

A uniform curfew of 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. will be implemented in Metro Manila.
