3 Cebu LGUs conduct nightly COVID vaccine inoculation


CEBU CITY — Ramping up their respective vaccination drives, three local government units in Cebu have started inoculating even at night.

The cities of Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu and the town of Consolacion have started conducting nightly inoculations to accommodate workers who do not have time to visit vaccination center during the day.

Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu were the first local government units in Cebu to make such move.

Dubbed as “Tara Shots,” Mandaue is accepting vaccinees from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex.

Lapu-Lapu’s vaccination center at the Hoops Dome is open until 9 p.m.

Consolacion is the latest LGU to follow such measure, opening its vaccination centers every Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Consolacion Mayor Joannes Alegado said to further step up the vaccination program, the town has also launched raffle draws for its vaccinated constituents.

Winners will have the chance to bring home sacks of rice, gift certificates, and appliances, Alegado said.

The mayor added that 68,046 residents have already been vaccinated.

Cebu City has also stepped its vaccination drive by launching its drive-thru vaccination at the South Road Properties. The city has also recently opened its ninth vaccination site.
