Medical tent set up by PH Red Cross in Benguet General Hospital


In response to the local government unit (LGU) hospital’s request for assistance due to the increasing admission in the hospital, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) has se up a medical tent in Benguet General Hospital.

The medical tent currently serves as an extension ward of the hospital. The new air-conditioned medical tent has a 10-bed capacity ready to cater to mild to moderate covid-19 cases.

PRC said that its Benguet Chapter will also install a portalet to provide access to proper hygiene.

“Ang Red Cross ay isa sa nangunguna pagdating sa COVID-19 response, dahil sa kakulangan ng facilities ay kaagad na natin ipinatayo ang medical tent sa Benguet General Hospital para makapagbigay tulong sa mga taong may kailangan na facilities upang sila ay kaagad na gumaling (The Red Cross is one of the leaders when it comes to the COVID-19 response, due to the lack of facilities we immediately set up a medical tent at Benguet General Hospital to provide assistance to people who need facilities so that they can recover immediately), PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Senator Richard Gordon said in a statement issued Tuesday, Sept. 14.

This initiative by PRC is in partnership with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).

Currently, Gordon said that the PRC has set up 70 medical tents that have provided assistance to 32 hospitals and served over 34,686 patients affected by COVID-19.

“Patuloy ang Philippine Red Cross sa pagbibigay tulong lalo na sa mga nangangailangan ngayong pandemya (The Philippine Red Cross continues to provide assistance especially to those in need during this pandemic),” he added.
