Schoolyear 2021-2022 officially starts today as millions of public school elementary and high school students return to their gadgets to resume distance learning amid the raging coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. What awaits our students and teachers this year?

An official of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said the new COVID-19 alert system will be doing away with the community quarantine (CQ) restrictions, and that new guidelines are to be announced on Monday or Tuesday before the official start of the new pandemic response on September 15, 2021.

These are among the top stories this Monday morning, September 13, 2021.

Thousands of loose firearms, spare parts, and ammunition allegedly used by a local syndicate in their illegal trade of weapons with private armed groups are presented after these were confiscated in raids conduction in Quezon City and Bulacan. The pieces of evidence and suspects are shown in a media conference at the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) in Taguig City on Sunday, September 12, 2021. (Ali Vicoy)
