12 passengers, including 8 children saved from a distressed motorbanca in Cebu

In an incident report, it stated that the passengers were passing from Bantayan Island en route Barangay Hagnaya in San Remigio on Thursday, Sept. 9, when their motorbanca encountered engine trouble.

Upon receiving the information, the PCG deployed a search and rescue team to locate the distressed motorbanca.

The PCG said the search and rescue team located the passengers at 15 nautical miles off San Remegio, Cebu.

The rescued passengers were transferred to an aluminum boat and provided with life vests.

Meanwhile, the distressed boat was towed to Hagnaya Fish Port in San Remigio for repair and maintenance.

No passengers or crew members were injured during the incident.
