Bataan registers 18 COVID deaths in one day


BALANGA, BATAAN – Active cases of COVID-19 in the province of Bataan has ballooned to a staggering 4,077 with the addition of 415 new confirmed positive cases Thursday, September 9 the highest turn-out in one day.

The latest data released by the Bataan Provincial Health Office (PHO) last night recorded 18 fatalities, also the most number of COVID-19 recorded deaths in the province in one day.

The age range of those who died are from 33 to 89 years old, 10 female and eight male from the municipalities of Hermosa, Samal, Abucay, Limay, Orani, Orion, Dinalupihan and Balanga City.

Doctors confirmed that most deaths are cases of unvaccinated individuals.

Here is a breakdown of COVID-19 active cases per town in Bataan: 153 in Abucay, 79 in Bagac, 873 in Balanga City, 711 in Dinalupihan, 168 in Hermosa, 502 in Limay, 523 in Mariveles, 318 in Morong, 197 in Orani, 279 in Orion, 106 in Pilar and 177 in Samal.

There are 332 individuals who recovered yesterday.

The health system in Bataan continues to be overwhelmed with cases of COVID-19 with four hospitals already at 100 percent capacity.

These are the Bataan General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) Annex, Mariveles District Hospital (MDH), Mariveles Mental Wellness and General Hospital (MMWGH), and the Bataan Peninsula Medical Center.

Four other hospitals are nearing full capacity at 80-90 percent capacity.

These are the BGHMC Main, Isaac and Catalina Medical Center (ICMC), Bataan St. Joseph Hospital and Medical Center, and the Centro Medico de Santissimo Rosario.
