Pasay City’s lone congressional representative Antonino Calixto has tested positive for COVID-19. He has mild symptoms and is now under isolation.
In a statement, Calixto, who is the older brother of Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano, said he sought medical advice after experiencing dry cough on Monday.
According to Calixto, his close contacts, particularly his immediate family, also underwent swab tests, and were found negative for the virus.
Calixto’s immediate family members were required to stay at home for at least 14 days as prescribed by health experts.
He said those working in his office who had personally met him, also underwent swab tests, and they were advised to also stay at home for two weeks.
Calixto said he was thankful that Mayor Rubiano, who had contracted COVID-19 before, was not in the same meeting from which he believes he acquired the virus.
He encouraged his constituents to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
Calixto continues to work from home.
