P15-B Cavitex C5 Link 20% complete

The P15 Billion Cavitex C5 Link, a 7.7-kilometer 2x3 lane expressway connecting Cavitex R1 to C5 Road in Taguig, is 20 percent complete, Cavitex Infrastructure Corporation (CIC) and joint venture (JV) partner, Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) announced.
C5LINK-SEGMENT2-2
The project is composed of Segments 2 and 3. Since 2019, C5 Link segment 3A-1, connecting Merville to C5 Road, has been operational, while the construction of Segments 3A-2 stretching from E. Rodriguez to Merville, and Segment 2 from Cavitex R1 Interchange to Sucat Interchange are underway.
Work on Segment 3B from Sucat to E. Rodriguez is expected to begin on the 1st quarter of 2022.
"We are proceeding with this vital infrastructure project amidst the challenges of stricter lockdown," said Roberto V. Bontia, CIC President and General Manager.
"Together with our JV partner, PRA, we are committed to ensure the welfare of our workers and adherence to safety protocols in continuing the works for the project,” he added.
Part of the ongoing road works include ground improvements, concrete pouring, construction of slab deck, drainage system, and bridge substructure works.
Once completed, the Cavitex C5 Link will reduce travel time between Cavitex to Makati and Taguig and vice versa by thirty to forty-five minutes.
Overall, the project will benefit 50,000 motorists, particularly those coming from Taguig, Makati, Las Pinas, and Pasay.
Aside from easing traffic congestion in these areas, it will also spur economic development crucial in the country’s efforts to move towards a new normal.
To improve the RFID toll collection system in the expressway, CIC will install the Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) cameras in toll plazas of Cavitex.
The ALPR system uses smart cameras to recognize vehicle's license plate, supporting RFID scanners to fast-track cashless transactions in toll plazas.
This technology has been in place at Cavitex C5 Link Segment 3A1 since its opening.
CIC, is a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), whose tollways portfolio includes concessions for the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX), North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), the Subic-Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), the NLEX Connector Road, and the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) in Cebu.
