Ilocos Norte declares holiday to celebrate birth of ex-President Marcos

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union — The provincial government of Ilocos Norte, through its Sangguniang Panlalawigan, ushered a resolution declaring Friday, September 10, as a holiday for the local government, and September 11 as the commemoration of the 104th birth of former President Ferdinand E. Marcos.

Provincial Resolution No. 351-2021, approved during the Sangguniang Panlalawigan’s session on September 7, says the declaration is to honor the late President’s “legacy of idealism and philosophy is a source of pride and continuiung inspiration” deserves to be perpetuated and emulated.

However, since September 11 falls on a Saturday, the Sanggunian has also decided to declare Friday, September 10, a Special non-working holiday for local government offices in the province.

This includes all provincial, city, and municipal offices.

The resolution was signed by Ilocos Norte governor Matthew Manotoc on the same date.
