TACLOBAN CITY - Forty-eight fishermen who were reported missing from different towns and cities in Leyte and Samar provinces were rescued in Sto. Niño, Samar as of 11:30 p.m. Tuesday (September 7).
The sudden shift of Typhoon 'Jolina' (Conson) that strengthened from a tropical depression to a typhoon on Monday (September 6) also left four casualties and several missing.'
Jolina' was initially forecasted to make landfall in Northern Luzon. However, it made three landfalls in Hernani, Eastern Samar (10 p.m.) on Monday, and in Daram, Samar (2 a.m.) and Sto Niño, Samar (3:40 a.m.) on Tuesday.

The fatalities, all fishermen were identified as Alejandro Solayao and Sonny Ibayan from Tacloban City; Roy Carcellar from Cambuhay, Daram, Samar; and Danilo Ogano from Libucan Dako, Tarangnan, Samar.
Other fishermen who were rescued in other areas are Deoneto Andoque and Edgar Papeleron from Brgy. Guinsurungan, Catbalogan City who were found in Brgy. Alegria, Caibiran, Biliran.Constancio Jabonero, 63, from Brgy. Bayog, Motiong and John Leren Labrague, 22 from Brgy. Jia-an, Jiabong were rescued in Brgy. Pangdan, Catbalogan City.
Edgar Cajepe, Nico Nicol, Greg Cinco, and Ading Villas were rescued in Majaba Island, also in Catbalogan.Bobby Lominique, Marlin Jamorawon, and Jimboy Brothel were rescued in Libucan Dako, Tarangnan, Samar. Rolly Olidan from Brgy. Arteche, Zumarraga, Samar was also rescued, as well as Alpher Crame, from Mallorga,
Talalora who have been drifted to Alegria, Caibiran, Biliran.Joel Labnao, 28; Benjie Iso, 22; and Aljon Belas, 19 were from Brgy. Bioso, Zumarraga, Samar, including Renato Calubid, Sr., and his son Renato Jr. from Barangay 3, Catbalogan City.
Still missing are Carpio Labongray, Rodney Pagadora, Benido Basan, and Noli Pagadora from Buenavista, Sto. Niño, Samar, while Juanito Sano and two others are still missing from Catbalogan City.
In Leyte province, 18-year-old Nathaniel Ripalda is still missing from Brgy. Catigbi-an, Tanauan, Leyte.
Initial investigation disclosed that at about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, the victim, together with his friends went to Binahaan River in Tanauan to pick some ferns.
However, the victim was accidentally taken away by the strong current.
Meanwhile, six fishermen identified as Orlando Ortilano, Sofio Tonido, Dino Dabalos, Rolly Requero, Elvis Catienza, and Federico Catienza, all from Biliran province are still missing.
