Manila City gov't to build 7th hospital in Baseco

The Manila City government will build its 7th hospital in Baseco Compound to cater to more than 100,000 residents.

"Magtatayo tayo ng ikapitong ospital, yung Baseco, lalagyan ko na ng ospital. Lalagyan natin sila ng pabahay. We will continue to build new houses, tapos lalagyan natin ng mga space para sa mga bata (We will build the seventh hospital in Baseco. We will build a hospital. We will provide them with housing. We will continue to build new houses, then we will put spaces for children)," Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso said on Monday during a consultation meeting with the Manila City Council.

Domagoso said the groundbreaking rites for the capital city's 7th hospital may take place in October.

"Baka by October, mag-groundbreaking. Maganda yung ospital. Para hindi na lalabas yung mga almost 100,000 na population (ng Baseco)--mga buntis, pre-natal, mga ipin (dental), tapos emergency, may primary care (Maybe by October, we will do the groundbreaking for the hospital so that the almost 100,000 population (of Baseco) will not go out anymore -- the pregnant women, pre-natal, dental, then emergency. They will be provided with primary care)," he said.

Domagoso said it will be convenient for Baseco residents to have access to a nearby hospital.

"Hindi na sila makikipagpatintero sa truck sa R-10 para pumunta sa Ospital ng Maynila o Gat Andres (Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center). Tatayuan natin sila ng ospital (They will no longer have to sidestep the trucks that ply R-10 just to go to tOspital ng Maynila or Gat Andres (Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center) We will build them a hospital)," he said.

"Kumpleto na sila -- eskwelahan, palengke, pabahay, park, pasyalan ng senior citizen, tapos may beach pa silang nalilinis araw-araw. We will bring back dignity to them. Kahit mahirap, ipararamdam natin ang gobyerno sa kanila (They will have everything they need in the community -- school, market, housing, park, recreation areas for senior citizens, even a beach that we will clean every day. No matter how difficult, we will give them their dignity. We will make sure that the government will be there for them)," he added.
