VaxCertPH soft launch date set on Sept. 6


All systems are go for the soft launch of the National Digital Vaccine Certificate or VaxCertPH this coming Monday, Sept. 6, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said.

In a statement Saturday, Sept. 4, Roque revealed that overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and Filipinos who will be departing from the Philippines for international travel with place of residence indicating Metro Manila and Baguio City will be prioritized in the initial phase of the project's implementation.

"It will later be opened to the general public and for other purposes at a later time," Roque said.

Roque said the soft launch Monday was approved by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases, or simply IATF.

A project of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), VaxCertPH's purpose is to streamline all vaccination cards issued by local government units (LGUs) throughout the country.

Vaccination cards were given to individuals who took part in the government's mass inoculation program against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The DICT said the ultimate goal of VaxCertPH is the facilitate the vaccination of as many Filipinos as possible, in the fastest time possible. It is a component of the agency's Vaccine Information Management System, or VIMS.

The vaccine certificates will be issued for free under the project.
