CAVITE – The Provincial Health Office (PHO) here has recorded 16,459 active coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases as of 2 p.m. on Friday (September 3), its highest count so far.

According to the report from PHO’s Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (PESU), Bacoor City tops the local government units (LGUs) with the highest number of cases, followed by Dasmariñas, Imus, Silang, and Tanza.

On September 1, Governor Jonvic Remulla said on a Facebook post that National Task Force Deputy Chief Implementer and Testing Czar Vince Dizon already expressed a firm commitment to send five million doses of various COVID-19 vaccine brands to Cavite.

According to Remulla, at least one million doses will arrive this month and the rest shall be sent progressively from October to December.

The Provincial Government had earlier allotted P2.5 billion to procure Novavax doses for Caviteños.

However, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has yet to issue an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for Novavax.
