An overseas Filipino worker was arrested after he yielded a handgun during the inspection of his baggage at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) Security Screening Officers (SSOs).
Nabbed was Dexter Rivera, who was bound for Manila on Friday, August 27, 2021 via Philippine Airlines Flight Number PR1846.
Seized from him were a .45 pistol and one magazine loaded with seven bullets. It was found inside a bag which appeared to have been abandoned but was traced to be his own.
Rivera failed to present appropriate licenses and permit to carry the same, prompting the authorities to arrest him.
Rivera is now under police custody and is facing charges for illegal possession of firearms.
