Mayor Andrea Ynares announced on Tuesday night, August 31, that five areas in the city are on a 14-day granular lockdown.

These are: an area in Forest Hills, Barangay Inarawan with two out of seven residents who turned COVID-19 positive; a compound at Paseo de Paz in ABA Homes; a nine-unit apartment building on Ursula Street in Milagros Subdivision, all located in Barangay Dalig; and an area in Samba Homes, in Barangay San Luis.

Ynares said the preventive lockdown in the affected area in Samba Homes was enforced after five out of the 12 who were tested showed symptoms of COVID-19.

Residents and their close contacts were subjected to swab testing and if the results will show that they are COVID-19 positive, more areas will have to be placed under granular lockdown.

The city government has assured the residents in areas that are on lockdown that they receive food packs.

As of August 30, there were 726 active cases, including 98 new cases out of the total of 13,102 confirmed cases.
