BINMALEY, Pangasinan – Mayor Simplicio Rosario confirmed Monday night, August 30 that he and his wife have tested positive for COVID-19.

“Nais ko pong ipagbigay alam na ako po at ang aking butihing may bahay, Lorna Grace B. Rosario, ay nagpositibo sa COVID-19,” he said in a statement.

Rosario said he is asymptomatic while his wife is experiencing mild symptoms.

He said they are both undergoing strict quarantine in compliance with the health and safety protocols to avoid further transmission of the virus.

“Ang aking pamilya kasama na ang lokal na pamahalaan ng Binmaley ay humihiling po ng inyong panalangin upang agarang maka-recover sa COVID-19 at nang maipagpatuloy po natin bilang isang bayan ang ating laban sa virus na ito,” Rosario added.

Meanwhile, prior to Rosario’s confirmation, municipal councilor Vismark Valerio on Saturday posted on his social media account that he also contracted the virus, although he was already fully vaccinated.

Rosario urged the public to take the threat of COVID-19 seriously, as anyone can be a silent carrier of the dreaded virus.
