A policeman allegedly threatened a nurse at the Valenzuela City Emergency Hospital over the weekend because he was not immediately attended to by on-duty medical personnel when he was hospitalized due to highblood pressure.

The incident occured when Patrolman Angelo Abalos, 37, was rushed to the hospital by his wife around 1 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, because his blood pressure suddenly shot up.

A police report reaching the Philippine National Police (PNP) National Headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City said Abalos wanted to be prioritized because he was a cop but the hospital staff couldn't attend to him immediately since they were dealing with other patients at the time.

At the triage area, the irked cop allegedly shouted to nurse Simon de Galicia and security guard Gilbert Belmonte to call their attention.

He then allegedly threatened Galicia and said: "T*** i** naman nagpakilala na akong pulis! Kung hawak ko lang ang baril ko binaril ko na kayo! (Son of a b*tch I already introduced myself as a cop! If I only have my gun with me I already shot all of you!)"

The nurse and security guard reported the incident to barangay officials who pacified the tense situation.

The cop eventually received treatment from the medical personnel he threatened but he was accosted by personnel of the Valenzuela City Police Sub-Station 6 around 10 a.m. for misbehavior.

The incident reached PNP Chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar who instructed the leadership of the Northern Police District (NPD) to conduct an investigation.

"Nakarating sa akin ang reklamo ng isa nating kababayan tungkol sa pagwawala at pananakot ng isang pulis sa isang ospital sa loob ng Valenzuela City. Inutusan ko na ang District Director ng Northern Police District na agad magsagawa ng imbestigasyon upang malaman ang katotohanan sa reklamong ito at kung bakit ito nangyari (A complaint by one of our fellowmen about the misbehavior and threats of a cop in a hospital in Valenzuela City has reached me. I ordered the District Director of the Northern Police District to immediately conduct an investigation to determine the truth about this complaint and know why this happened)," Eleazar said.

"Hindi natin kukunsintihin ang mga ganitong klaseng asal at tinitiyak ko na pananagutin natin ang pulis na ito kapag lumabas sa imbestigasyon ang kanyang pagkakasala (We will not condone this kind of behavior and I assure you that we will make this cop liable if the investigation shows his violations)," he added.

The Valenzuela City Police said they already invited the nurse and guard to lodge a formal complaint against Abalos at the police station.
