NCR 'ayuda' distribution around 90 percent complete

The cash aid (ayuda) distribution in Metro Manila is now around 90 percent complete three days ahead of the deadline set by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

DILG Undersecretary for Barangay Affairs Martin Diño said this month's cash aid distribution is faster than the previous payouts.

The National Capital Region (NCR) was placed under ECQ from August 6 to 20 to contain the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) Delta variant transmission with only essential travels permitted and some businesses like food delivery service allowed to operate.

Metro Manila was then downgraded to the more relaxed modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) from August 21 to 31 which was later extended up to September 7.

In a statement, Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID) has decided to retain the second most stringent quarantine status in Metro Manila along with 15 other areas in the country. (Chito A. Chavez)
