In a briefing with President Duterte, DILG Sec. Eduardo Año said the distribution of P9.77 billion worth of ayuda for NCR residents is nearing its completion with the deadline extended to Aug. 31.

He praised the local government units (LGUs) of Caloocan City and Navotas City which have finally completed their respective payouts.

Meanwhile, the LGUs of Pasay City, Malabon City, and the municipality of Pateros all have surpassed the 98 percent range in the payout.

In other areas placed under ECQ, Año said the LGU of Laguna has distributed P1,134,914,000 out of the total P2,714,966,000 allotted to the province for a 41.80-percent accomplishment.

Laguna has a total of 1,134,914 recipients with Pakil and Biñan City already finished with their ayuda distribution.

NCR was allocated with P9.77 billion in ayuda after it was placed under ECQ, the strictest quarantine status, from Aug. 6 to 20 to slow down the transmission of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases.

Laguna was also placed under ECQ on the same period while Bataan was in the same quarantine restriction from August 8 to 22.

Each low-income individual in these areas is entitled to a P1,000 ayuda with every qualified family receiving a maximum of P4,000.

The quarantine statuses in NCR, Laguna, and Bataan have since been eased to modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) until Aug. 31.
