7 Fishermen rescued off Bolinao coast


BOLINAO, Pangasinan – Seven fishermen were rescued after their boat suffered an engine failure Wednesday, August 25, northwest off Silaqui Island, Bolinao, Pangasinan.

The Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) confirmed that seven fishermen who were at sea at 15 nautical miles northwest of Bolinao, Pangasinan, were reported missing.

Naval authorities assist one of the fishermen who were rescued when their boat suffered an engine failure off the coast of Bolinao town in Pangasinan.

Naval Forces Northern Luzon immediately mobilized its troops from Patrol Craft 388 (PC 388) to conduct search and rescue operations after receiving a report from Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Pangasinan.

The crew of PC 388 found the seven fishermen onboard FB Sea Hunter at 13 nautical miles northwest of Silaqui Island on Wednesday.

The fishermen were welcomed onboard PC 388 and underwent proper health screening in adherence to health protocols imposed due to COVID-19. They were provided food and water, while their fishing boat was subsequently towed back to Bolinao, Pangasinan.

The seven fishermen upon arrival at Bolinao, Pangasinan were immediately turned over by the crew of PC 388 to PCG Pangasinan for proper disposition.
