Saturday’s number of new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases was the second highest daily count with 16,694, while the day’s death tally of 398 was also the second worst since the pandemic began.

Rains and thunderstorms are expected to be spawned by an inter-tropical convergence zone (ITCZ) over parts of the country, while it was also reported that there are still 49 Filipinos remaining in Afghanistan.
