"PAL put protocols and safeguards ensuring the safety of all travelers in this time of heightened concerns, and we enforce them strictly and consistently," says PAL VP Marketing Ria C. Domingo.
Safety is the cornerstone of the flag carrier's corporate culture.
Hence, "Whatever your reason for flying, you’ll always fly safe in the hands of Philippine Airlines," she added.
The 2-minute video, themed 'You're why we fly safe", highlights the importance of safety in the airline's mission to serve essential travelers, repatriate overseas Filipinos and transport vaccines as well as medical supplies.
Produced by PAL's Marketing team in partnership with advertising firm Ace Saatchi and Saatchi, the video shows how passengers are protected throughout all phases of their flights with the flag carrier.
Safety measures at the airport include thermal scanning, transparent counter barriers, intensified cleaning and disinfecting, self-tearing and self-scanning of boarding passes.
Upon boarding and deplaning, PAL enlists passenger cooperation to practice social distancing, sanitize their hands and wear face shields and masks.
The cabin crew uses full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and the aircraft has advance cabin air flow system cleansing the air of bacteria and viruses with 99.99% efficacy.
Notably, last year, independent rating firm Safe Travel Barometer audited PAL, along with over 150 airlines on its covid-19 safety credentials and gave the flag carrier 4.2 rating out of 5.0, the highest score.
PAL was the first Filipino airline to be registered with IOSA, the IATA Operational Safety Audit considered as the gold standard for adhering to international safety standards.
The airline completed its seventh consecutive IOSA renewal in 2019, marking a full 16 years of international safety compliance todate.
In 2019, the flag carrier was re-certified as a 4-Star Global Airline and was ranked 30th best airline in the world by Skytrax, earning the World’s Most Improved Airline honors.
The US-based Association of Airline Passengers (APEX) awarded PAL a 5-Star Major Airline rating in 2020.
The Philippines' only full-service network carrier has been operating for 80 years.
PAL flies to 29 local destinations and 32 more in Asia, North America, Australia, Europe and the Middle East.
