More than 1/3 of PNP personnel now fully-vaccinated

Almost 80,000 personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP) have been fully vaccinated while more than 92,000 more are still waiting for the second dose of the vaccine against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

This developed as another policeman, a 50-year old police official assigned to the Ilocos Region, died of COVID-19. He was the 92nd fatality in the PNP.

PNP chief Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar said the total number of fully-vaccinated policemen was at 79,082 as of August 16, adding that the figure represents 35.66 percent of the PNP population.

"A total of 92,914 or 41.89 percent of PNP strength are just awaiting the second dose to complete the inoculation," said Eleazar.

"With this, there are only 49,786 or 22.45% police personnel who have not been vaccinated," he added.

Meanwhile, the PNP Health Service recorded 106 new cases of COIVID-19 infection among PNP personnel that adds up to 1,970 active cases in the organization,

A total 32,464 PNP COVID-19 cases were recorded in the PNP since last year.
