Huawei Freebuds 4: Music's perfect bud

"Music makes the people come together, Music mix the bourgeoisie and the rebel." - Madonna

Music has united people and inspired change. It also allows those who listen to it to connect to their emotions and express them. But what is music if you don't have a high-performing device to listen to it? This is the very reason why wearable music devices are probably a multi-billion dollar industry, with new and improved performing devices coming out almost every year.

Although known as a smartphone creator, Huawei is also setting sights on the wearable music device as part of their ecosystem. Since the first Freebuds model launch, Huawei has been delivering high-quality wearable music devices to its consumers.

Its latest, the Huawei Freebuds 4, is one of the various wearables Huawei continuously impresses people with.

Its case and charging dock remind me of a hockey puck. The Huawei Freebuds 4 case is about an inch smaller than a standard hockey puck. Its flat and round shape with curved edges makes it easier to hold. The magnets that make sure that the Freebuds are securely docked are strong and that you might have a hard time removing them the first time. The trick with this is to push the Freebuds head towards you so that it will easily slide out of the dock.

Of course, just like any other wearable device, it has an accompanying app. For the Huawei Freebuds 4, it is Huawei's AI Life app that you can download by scanning the QR code at the box of the Freebuds 4.

The AI Life app works as the central control unit of all your Huawei devices, such as speakers, eyewear, the Huawei Mateview, desk lamps, electric toothbrush, internet routers, and Midea products.

Here you will find all the information you will need about your Freebuds 4. This is also where you can set things like the Smart wear detection where the Freebuds will automatically pause your music when you take it off and continue playing as soon as you wear it again.

The AI Life app is also where you can personalize the double-tap gestures of the Freebuds 4. So, you have to decide which side to double tap for play/pause and which side to go to the next song or activate voice assistant. Hopefully, in the subsequent updates of its firmware, it can add personalization for its press and hold gesture (which is currently exclusively for rejecting calls and enable/disable noise canceling) and the swipe gesture (which is solely for adjusting the volume).

This made me miss my old Huawei Freebuds, where I swipe up for the next song, swipe down for the previous music, double-tap for play/pause and answer calls, and triple tap for voice assistant.

But still, this doesn't take away the impressive performance of the Freebuds 4 as it gives stunning audio and feels very comfortable in your ears. This is because it doesn't have that plug-like thing that you need to shove in your ear canal. Also, its stems or legs, whatever you want to call it, hang comfortably in your ear, making it feel secure in your ear.

Also, its BlueTooth 5.2 connectivity is fast, and you don't have to wait for about 10 seconds before wearing it. It also gives a short assuring beep when you wear it, indicating that it is connected and ready. Gone are the days when you had to wait 5 seconds after opening the dock and another 5 seconds after removing it from the dock before it connects. Yes, this is my daily routine with my wireless earphones, whose brand I will not mention!

In summary, the Huawei Freebuds 4 is a device worth having as it is sleek and super easy to connect. Its battery also charges fast, so you won't have to wait for a long time to enjoy your favorite tunes.
