The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) surge continues as the number of new cases and deaths reached 14,249 and 233, respectively. It was the second highest single-day increase in the number of infections in the country.

Metro Manila reproduction number is up despite the ongoing enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), and attack rate and occupancy in hospital in six cities are at critical risk levels.

The distribution of “ayuda” or cash aid to the “poorest of the poor” continues, even as the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) denied that Metro mayors are set to recommend an extension of the ECQ.
