The Muntinlupa City government has released nearly P90 million in “ayuda” or financial assistance from the national government to residents in just two days.

According to the city government, as of Aug. 12, it has released a total of P89.976 million to 89,976 beneficiaries in Muntinlupa through the mobile wallet app GCash since it started the payout on Aug. 11.

The total released fund to date translates to 20.37 percent of Muntinlupa’s total allotment of P441.6 million from the national government.

The “ayuda” beneficiaries received P1,000 per individual and up to a maximum of P4,000 per family.

Muntinlupa partnered with GCash for a contactless mode of distribution to ensure the residents’ safety from coronavirus disease (COVID-19) amid the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in effect in Metro Manila until Aug. 20.

“The Muntinlupa City government opted to hold an online distribution to ensure the safety of everyone from COVID-19,” the city government announced.

Muntinlupa cash aid beneficiaries need to create their verified GCash accounts and register their details via tinyurl.com/Ayuda-ECQ-Munti. Meanwhile, dependents of heads of households who died but are still part of the list and previous beneficiaries who are not part of the current list may register online via tinyurl.com/Appeals-Ayuda-ECQ-Munti for validation.

In a separate announcement, the city government also advised beneficiaries that they may use the GCash verified accounts of their family members as long as they are declared as official dependents in their previous registration.

While cash aid payouts in the city are facilitated primarily through an online payment service, the city government is eyeing to conduct a manual payout scheme for those who are unable to claim their financial assistance via GCash.

The deadline of registration of GCash account details is extended until Aug. 15 (9 p.m.). The city government noted that there will be an extension of the deadline to accommodate beneficiaries who are experiencing delays with their verification.

In addition, the Social Service Department simultaneously distributes food packs to augment assistance for residents affected by the ECQ. SSD Muntinlupa recorded 1,569 food packs released to various communities in the city as of Aug. 10.
