From friends to husband and wife, singer-songwriter KZ Tandingan and TJ Monterde released Bisaya lullabies “Dodong” and “Inday” songs binding their devotion to each other.
Asia’s Soul Supreme, KZ Tandingan, dropped her first lullaby and Bisaya song.
“Dodong” is a heartwarming song of appreciation and admiration dedicated to her husband, TJ Monterde.
KZ shared that she wrote the song “Dodong” back in 2019 and was never meant to be released to the public. It was an affectionate lullaby to cradle her husband to sleep.
At first, she was hesitant to publish “Dodong” as it was raw and too personal for KZ. So, her husband, TJ Monterde, assured her by writing “Inday” to partner with “Dodong.” “
Dodong” and “Inday” are songs of reassurance of love and loyalty of the couple to each other.
Kz Tandingan expresses her love:
“Ikaw nahulat saking YES
Wa pay nakalahutay
Ikaw ra ang nidugay
Wa gyud tawn nibugat goodbye”
“Ikaw lang ang nag hintay sa akin YES
Walang nag hintay ng ganto
Ikaw lang tumatagal
Hindi ka umalis”
And TJ cherishingly answers with:
“Inday, kanimo lang
Hantod kita maniguwang
Di mibuya nimo
Imo ra ko”
“Inday, sa’yo lamang
Hanggang tayo ay tumanda man
‘Di ka iiwanan
Sa’yo lang ako”
“Ikaw lang ang nag hintay sa akin YES
"Walang nag hintay ng ganto
"Ikaw lang tumatagal
"Hindi ka umalis”
And TJ cherishingly answers with:
“Inday, kanimo lang
Hantod kita maniguwang
Di mibuya nimo
Imo ra ko”
“Inday, sa’yo lamang
Hanggang tayo ay tumanda man
‘Di ka iiwanan
"Sa’yo lang ako.”
When asked, why release the song now? KZ shares that she wanted to tell their story in their native language as reaching the milestone of marriage and being married to a fellow Bisaya is part of their identity.
They want to encourage other artists to write in their native language.
