Southern Leyte cops praised for helping child with meningitis

Operatives of the Hinundayan Municipal Police Station in Southern Leyte went beyond their peace and order mandate after they assisted a child with meningitis who has been sick for almost a year and was fed through a nasogastric tube.

The local policemen raised funds not only to provide the basic needs of Ashley Kate Sequeña but also in seeking medical treatment and medicine for her.

The policemen went to the house of the child after they were informed of the medical condition. They vowed to continue assisting her for her recovery.

Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar, chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), praised the local policemen for meaningful gesture.

"I really appreciate this act of kindness and it only shows the big heart of almost all of our personnel on the ground," said Eleazar.

"I hope that this act of kindness would touch the heart of all other personnel and inspire them to do the same in the name of police service," he added.
