Ospital ng Biñan hits full capacity; patients confined at parking lot

BIÑAN, Laguna - Ospital ng Biñan (ONB) has reached its full capacity amid the latest increase in coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases.

Photos posted on Facebook by Mayor Arman Dimaguila on Thursday (August 12) showed patients confined on hospital beds set up in the facility's parking lot.

"Hanggang parking lot na ho ang pasyente sa ating hospital (Patients are now confined at the hospital's parking lot)," Dimaguila said as he reminded his constituents to stay at home, including children.

"Pagod na pagod na rin ho ang mga frontliners natin, tumataas ang positive. Dumadami ang namamatay, kahit mga bata. (Our frontliners are tired, COVID-19 positive patients have increased. Many are dying, including children)."

ONB information head Rene Alpino told the Manila Bulletin that the patients staying in the parking lot are non-COVID-19 cases who were displaced because the hospital had to allot the building's third floor for COVID-19 patients.

Hospital tents were being set up in the vicinity to accommodate COVID-19 patients so that the building's third floor can again be used for non-COVID-19 cases.

As of August 11, the City Health Office (CHO) has recorded 352 active cases.

The local government unit (LGU) had earlier beefed up its vaccination campaign with its Vax on Wheels program, which sets up mobile vaccination sites to expedite inoculation against COVID-19.
