Liyab Esports ignited a miracle run capped by a thrilling win over Impunity in a tiebreaker game to clinch its first playoff spot in the League of Legends Pacific Championship Series (PCS) Summer Split 2021 and kept its World Championship 2021 dream alive over the weekend.

Liyab edged out the Singapore-based Impunity in a decisive 33-minute game for the last playoff seat as the Filipino squad finally made it past the elimination round after failed attempts in the previous PCS seasons.

Veteran jungler Edrian “DoeDoii” Brancia on his Nidalee led the come-from-behind 20-19 victory as he finished with seven kills and 12 assists against a lone death and helped the PH side overhaul an almost 4K gold deficit.

Liyab looked headed to another early exit in the regional league after plunging to a 0-9 start to the season.

But the Gerald Gianne “Tgee” Gelacio-coached team took down Berjaya Dragons, Hong Kong Attitude, Impunity and Alpha Esports in the closing weeks to forge a tiebreaker for the eighth spot.

Liyab joined the undefeated PSG Talon, Mega Bank Beyond Gaming, Machi Esports, Boom Esports, Taipei J team, Hong Kong Attitude and Berjaya Dragons in the playoffs of the PCS Summer wherein the two finalists will enter the prestigious Worlds later this year.

PCS Summer Split 2021 Final Standings

Liyab will try to spark another miracle campaign in the playoffs and aim to replicate what Tgee and the rest of its predecessor Mineski did in 2013 when they qualified for the Season 3 World Championship by ruling the Southeast Asia Regional Finals.

Starting at the lower bracket, DoeDoii and the crew will battle the loser of the first upper bracket match between Boom and J Team.

All matches in the first round are best-of-three while the rest, including the grand finals, are best-of-five.
