Broadcast journalist Karen Davila has defended Manila Mayor Isko Moreno.
On Twitter, Karen said: “Galing sa matinding hirap si Isko Moreno. Kailan man di niya ipinagkaila ang kanyang pinanggalingan. He has tried to better himself through the years & succeeded. Sana lang wala nang ganitong pangiinsulto sa kapwa porket kalaban sa 2022.”
Karen’s post was retweeted along with the clip of President Duterte throwing shade at a local chief executive for his steamy photos, asking Filipinos to think twice before voting for someone who was trained to be a “call-boy.”
Duterte did not name names, but many people believe he was referring to Isko. The President also referred to the same mayor, who was reportedly “disorderly and disorganized” in the distribution process of cash aid.
Before he became a politician, Isko starred in numerous films, some of which have steamy scenes.
Karen also uploaded a citation which recognizes Isko for his timely distribution of ayuda. She shared the certificate to refute allegations about the “disorganized” cash aid distribution process.
“Manila City Government forwards a certificate of recognition this morning signed by DILG Secretary Año praising Mayor Isko Moreno for his timely distribution of ayuda. This, after the President criticizes it for chaotic distribution last night,” she wrote.
Karen thinks Isko’s good words for the Duterte is a “smart move.”
“In a surprising move, Moreno thanks Duterte as cash aid distribution in Manila pushes through,” she said.
Isko has expressed gratitude to the President during a recent Facebook live.
“Maraming salamat kay Pangulong Duterte, sa DSWD (Department of Social Welfare and Development), sa DILG (Department of the Interior and Local Government at sa Department of National Defense. Tuloy po ang delivery ng ayuda bukas sa bawat pamilyang Manileño, tulad ng labing anim nating siyudad sa Metro Manila,” said Isko last Aug 10.
