10 more Pangasinan villages declared drug-cleared


SUAL, Pangasinan – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) has declared 10 barangays in this town as drug-cleared following a series of evaluations and monitoring.

These are barangays of Baybay Norte, Bolaoen, Camagsingalan, Capantolan, Macaycayawan, Paitan West, Pangascasan, Santo Domingo, Seselangen and Sioasio West.

The barangays underwent rigorous validation by the provincial and regional barangay drug clearing team, and were declared by the Regional Oversight Committee as drug-cleared during the deliberation in May and June this year, according to PDEA Pangasinan.

There are now four remaining barangays in this town to be declared drug-cleared.

In an interview on Tuesday, August 10, PDEA Pangasinan provincial officer Rechie Camacho said Pangasinan now has 1,049 drug-cleared barangays out of the 1,272 drug-affected barangays in the province.

“We are now at 83 percent of drug clearing the barangays in our area of responsibility and we are working on declaring all barangays drug-cleared,” he said.

Meanwhile, Camacho said there was a reduction in the volume of supply of illegal drugs in the province amid the ongoing pandemic.

“There used to be high volume or high impact in our operations even if we conduct several operations in a week but now, it seems it has reduced. There are still those who try to get http://getzonedup.com through the border checkpoints but the checkpoints are strict,” he said.

Camacho said the pandemic, however, affected the seminars and training they conduct in the barangays as mass gatherings are still prohibited.

“We will continue to perform our duties such as monitoring and enforcement,” he added.
