DILG seeks additional P278M to cover all NCR 'ayuda' beneficiaries


Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año has sought for a supplemental budget of P278 million to ensure that all qualified recipients in the National Capital Region (NCR) will receive the national government’s financial assistance (ayuda).

In a briefing with the President, Año explained that computation of the cash assistance for low income individuals in NCR P11.172 billion, which is almost P300 million short of the released P10.89 billion.

The President earlier approved the release of P10.89 billion for the previous cash aid distribution for the NCR recipients. The distribution is expected to begin on August 11.

Each qualified individual will receive P1,000 cash aid with every household getting a maximum of P4,000.

Año revealed that the LGUs will employ various strategies in the distribution of the cash assistance to the qualified beneficiaries to ensure that health and safety regulations are adhered to.

“Ang atin pong mga NCR LGUs ay nagkasundo na sa Wednesday (August 11) po ay sisimulan ang pagbibigay ng ayuda sa ating mga kababayang naapektuhan (The NCR LGUs have agreed to simultaneously start the ayuda distribution on Wednesday,’’ Año told the President.

The DILG chief reported that the list of recipients are those who got the monetary assistance last April and May with the roster in the database submitted by the LGUs being the basis as stated in Local Budget Circular No. 136.

“Magbibigay po ako ng ulat kada linggo kapag nagsimula na po ang ating pagbibigay ng ayuda (I will provide a weekly report ones the ayuda distribution starts),’’ Año said.
